Newcastle United had a disappointing summer transfer window. Failing to land key desired reinforcements for the center-back and right-wing roles, the Magpies club had little to no positives this summer. As a result, not only did the club have tensions grow between the board members, but their poor performance in the transfer event is evident in their season performances now.

One major priority for Newcastle ahead of the summer transfer window was reinforcing their right wing, which has now become the biggest weak link in their setup. Although the club has been facing its repercussions for quite a while now, the club fans have been very disappointed by a deal that Newcastle failed to materialize.
Ace winger Raphinha had been on Newcastle's shortlist, being one of the dream signings of manager Eddie Howe; however, the player's preference to choose FC Barcelona saw him move to the Catalan giants in 2022. But the Magpies club had an even more brilliant opportunity when Barca was open to selling him for a considerably high fee this summer; however, Newcastle backed out of the player's deal due to financial struggles.
Unfortunately, as has been Newcastle's fate this season, it turns out that they missed on another superstar signing, given the form Raphinha has been in. In his 13 appearances for the Catalan giants this summer, the Brazilian star, with 17 goal contributions, has been unstoppable for the side. Moreover, recently, in his 100th club appearance for FC Barcelona, Raphinha, with a memorable hat trick, dismantled Bayern's backline as they defeated the German giants 4-1.
Clearly, had things gone in favor of Newcastle, who knows, Raphinha would have been performing his heroics at St. James. Most importantly, the Brazilian ace seemed to be the solution to Newcastle's biggest weak link this season, the right-wing role. However, what has been done can't be unturned, as Newcastle hope to return stronger from the winless streak they have found themselves in, contending for a top-4 finish in the PL.
