Since the Euro 2024 tournament ended, with Gareth Southgate resigning from England's managerial role in the aftermath of England's loss, there have been speculations about the future heir to the role. Moreover, with Newcastle boss Eddie Howe's name being overly linked with the job, it has been a frustrating duration for Magpies fans.

However, the Tyneside club would be more than happy with FA's recent decision to bring in Thomas Tuchel as the new English manager, ahead of Eddie Howe. While certainly the 46-year-old English manager would have been one of the best options for the job, Newcastle would have had major difficulties accustoming to a new in. Thus, for the Magpies fans, the FA's decision seems one of the best that could have happened in the end.

But it seems like Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has had major issues with the appointment. Although Neville certainly in no way discredits Tuchel as the new lead, he looks upset as to why they would bring in a foreign manager while having excellent options at home. Speaking on the recent appointment, Neville said,

"“I think there are some serious questions for the FA to answer in respect of English coaching.”"

In fact, the former Manchester United star even went on to say that by accepting this decision, they are damaging themselves. As per Neville,

"“I do think that we are damaging ourselves, accepting that Thomas Tuchel is better than any of the other English candidates.""

Analyzing the situation closely, from a neutral perspective, the FA deciding on someone above their domestic managers for the role seems a bit intriguing. Although foreign managers have had brilliant records, with the FA's decision majorly inclined toward eyeing the upcoming 2026 World Cup, choosing Tuchel above managers like Eddie Howe and Graham Potter still raises a lot of questions.

However, as every coin has two sides, although FA's decision to appoint Thomas Tuchel as their new lead seems a bit intriguing, the Magpies fans would be more than grateful to them. Given that the club still feels far from achieving its goal of becoming one of the best clubs around the world, having Howe was necessary for them, with the manager having made significant recovery in the club's previous situations. Newcastle fans would hope that the 46-year-old manager continues the same way, taking the club to new heights.
