Newcastle United midfielder Joe Willock is attracting serious interest from Crystal Palace — and a summer move could be on the cards.

According to the Everything Is Black And White podcast, Crystal Palace have identified Willock as a potential replacement for Eberechi Eze, who is widely expected to leave Selhurst Park this summer. With both Manchester City and Tottenham circling and a £60 million release clause reportedly in place, Palace are preparing for life without their star playmaker.

Willock, meanwhile, could find himself at a crossroads on Tyneside.

The 24-year-old has endured a frustrating campaign at Newcastle, largely disrupted by injuries and inconsistency. Once considered a key figure under Eddie Howe, Willock now finds himself behind Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, and Sandro Tonali in the midfield hierarchy — a situation that may not improve next season.

His current contract runs until 2026, meaning Newcastle could be tempted to cash in while his value remains relatively high.

Palace believe that a deal is there to be done and are said to be actively advising chairman Steve Parish to make a move once the transfer window opens. Willock’s versatility and ability to drive forward from midfield make him an appealing target for Oliver Glasner’s system, especially if the Eagles lose Eze.

Willock made a strong impression when he first joined Newcastle on loan from Arsenal in 2021, famously scoring in seven consecutive Premier League matches. That form earned him a £25 million permanent move, but recurring injury problems and dips in form have seen his impact fade.

While the club remains publicly supportive, there is a growing sense behind the scenes that a summer departure could benefit all parties. With Paul Mitchell set to oversee a major squad rebuild, Willock’s name could be among those placed on the chopping block.

Newcastle will not let Willock go cheaply, especially to a Premier League rival. But with financial fair play pressures and a need to refresh the squad, incoming offers will be considered. As of now, no price tag has been set, but Palace’s interest is very real.

If a concrete offer lands on Darren Eales’ desk in the coming weeks, do not be surprised if the Magpies listen — especially if the funds can be reinvested into strengthening Eddie Howe’s midfield depth.
