Crystal Palace are reportedly preparing a January bid for Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson, who will be a free agent next summer. According to The Sun, Palace sees Wilson as an ideal addition to strengthen their attack and hopes to strike a reasonable deal with Newcastle, given the striker's contract situation.

At 32, Wilson brings Premier League experience and a proven goal-scoring record that Palace desperately needs to bounce back after an underwhelming season under new manager Oliver Glasner. Though Palace made significant progress last season, they have struggled to replicate that form, and Wilson could be a valuable solution to their goal-scoring issues. 

Why Callum Wilson could be a great fit for Palace 

Wilson has yet to make an appearance for Newcastle this season due to injuries but is reportedly nearing a return to fitness. With Alexander Isak favored up front, Wilson might see limited minutes if he stays, which could make a move to Palace, where he’d likely see more starting time, an attractive prospect. A move would also give him the opportunity to compete with or partner with Jean-Philippe Mateta in attack, adding versatility to Palace’s offensive options. 

Newcastle's perspective: Time to cash in? 

With Wilson’s contract expiring in 2025, January presents Newcastle with a chance to recoup some value rather than risk losing him for free. Offloading Wilson would also give Eddie Howe room to target a younger replacement and further develop Newcastle’s attack around Isak.
