Newcastle United have made their position clear. Alexander Isak is staying.

As the summer transfer window approaches, several top clubs are eyeing new strikers to strengthen their squads. And while Arsenal were heavily linked with Isak, the Magpies are in no mood to entertain offers.

Newcastle are building a team for the Champions League. Isak, who has been exceptional since his move from Real Sociedad in 2022, is central to that project. His goals, movement, and match-winning quality have made him one of the most exciting forwards in the Premier League.

The club’s firm stance has had an impact.

According to TeamTalk, Arsenal have accepted that signing Isak will be close to impossible this summer and are now considering other options. One of those alternatives is Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.

Arsenal eye Christopher Nkunku after Newcastle’s firm stance on Isak

As per the report from TeamTalk, the Gunners are now focusing on Christopher Nkunku, who has had a frustrating first season at Chelsea. Despite arriving with great expectations for £52 million in 2023, the French forward has struggled for regular game time.

However, that has not put off Arsenal. Mikel Arteta believes the 26-year-old would complement his attack and offer a versatile option across the frontline.

The report adds that Nkunku could be available for just £40 million – significantly lower than what Newcastle would demand for Isak. That makes Nkunku an attractive target, especially with Barcelona and some Bundesliga clubs also interested.

For Newcastle, this is a clear win. Arsenal wanted Isak. Newcastle said no. Arsenal have moved on.

Newcastle news - Magpies not entertaining bids for Isak

Newcastle’s message to potential suitors has been simple: Isak is not for sale. Not even for an extraordinary fee.

With Champions League football on the horizon, selling the club’s most lethal attacker makes no sense. Isak is under contract until 2028 and is happy at the club. There’s no pressure to sell, and certainly no need to strengthen a direct rival.

It is another signal of intent from Newcastle. This is not a selling club anymore. Paul Mitchell and the board are focused on building, not breaking apart, and that means keeping elite players like Isak at St. James’ Park.

Arsenal's pursuit of Alexander Isak appears to be over. The Gunners are now chasing Christopher Nkunku instead. Newcastle fans can take pride in how the club has handled this situation – firm, ambitious, and focused.
