Arsenal are gearing up for a busy summer. With no major silverware in five years, Mikel Arteta is under pressure to get things right this time.

Reinforcements are expected across the pitch, and while a deal for Martin Zubimendi looks close, the focus is shifting elsewhere too.

The Gunners are planning to strengthen out wide, and with Gabriel Martinelli's future up in the air, they have started looking for potential replacements.

One name has come up repeatedly during scouting discussions and it is someone Newcastle fans would be desperate to keep.

Arsenal still admire Alexander Isak. But with Newcastle showing no interest in selling their star striker, attention may now turn to another key figure in black and white.

Anthony Gordon is also firmly on Arsenal’s radar. And now, former scout Mick Brown has told Football Insider (via Football365) that Arsenal are keeping close tabs on the winger’s situation.

"“They’ve been looking at Gordon for a while now. If Martinelli does move on, they will need someone better and Gordon is one of the players they like. He’s young, quick, and dangerous on the break.”"

There is no indication yet that Newcastle want to sell Gordon. He remains a vital part of Eddie Howe’s system and was arguably one of the club’s best players during the 2024–25 season.

But with Premier League clubs forced to keep a close eye on PSR regulations, tough decisions may be required this summer.

Brown suggested that Newcastle’s financial situation could tempt them into negotiations.

"“If Arsenal put in a big offer, Newcastle might have to accept. Then it comes down to whether Arsenal think he’s the right fit.”"

Gordon is not short of admirers. Liverpool have long been linked with the former Everton man, and a bidding war cannot be ruled out.

For now, nothing is advanced. But if Newcastle receive an offer too big to ignore, this one could quickly gather pace.
