Having faced serious ACL injuries to two of the best defenders, Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles, Newcastle had their priorities clear for the summer transfer window. Unfortunately, having to walk away from their desired center-back, Marc Guehi's move, the Magpies club had a disappointing transfer event. However, while they couldn't complete their priority signings, the club certainly did a great job with their core stars.
AC Milan keen to sway 34-year-old veteran Magpies star in January window
One such case was of 34-year-old veteran star Kieran Trippier. Having lost the Captain's armband to ace midfield star Bruno Guimaraes, and being dropped down in manager Howe's pecking order for the full-back role, Trippier was pushing to make an exit move. While various big clubs had shown interest in him during the transfer event, Eddie Howe's influence halted any move for the veteran star.
Being significantly aware of Trippier's utility in the club in guiding and helping prodigy star Tino Livramento in the right-back role, Howe managed to keep him tied at the club, this summer. Ultimately, in the 2024/25 campaign, things have so far turned well for both parties, but Trippier who had won back his full-back spot, has faced a hamstring injury, and scenes might change once he returns after recovery.
One of the biggest concerns for Kieran Trippier was not to have his game time compromised, and things might be difficult for him on his return considering Livramento's rapid growth in the role. Thus, still, chances could arise influencing his exit move in the upcoming transfer windows. However, what has been concerning for Newcastle is that Italy Giants AC Milan have shown interest in the veteran, planning his move for the January window.
As per reports from Pianeta Milan, AC Milan seem interested in acquiring Kieran Trippier's signature in the upcoming winter window. The Milan club believes that Trippier could not only replace Davide Calabria but also provide cover to the ace left-back Theo Hernandez. Not to forget, AC Milan had missed on completing a move for him in the summer and might return stronger this time to get the deal done.
Clearly, for Eddie Howe's Newcastle, these reports sound concerning, who, would be left with very few options in the full-back role without Trippier. Although, as it stands, Newcastle's priority is to sign a winger in the January window, they could be forced to make a full-back signing as well to backup Tino Livramento.
