As Eddie Howe prepares his strategy for Newcastle vs Chelsea this weekend, here are 3 crucial players who he will implement within his master plan.
Newcastle vs Chelsea: 3 players who are CRUCIAL for Eddie Howe’s plan
Kieran Trippier
Newcastle are going through an injury crisis, that’s no secret. We as fans notice it but so have the players, as demonstrated by Kieran Trippier’s recent altercation with a fan. Say what you want about KT’s response but one thing’s for sure – he is one of those players that has shown up for us consistently this season.
With that being said, Kieran Trippier is the first player I want to highlight for Newcastle vs Chelsea. He is expected to play in his second role as the left-back, with the Dan Burn injury still rife. Having a player that can play just as well on either side of the pitch is crucial, so while we as fans can be quick to notice the shortcomings in the squad, we must also appreciate the players who glue it together, like KT.
Bruno Guimaraes
Bruno G will be our most prominent midfielder in this match and with Sean Longstaff a doubt for this match, the Brazilian will step up to cover one and a half roles in this match. Returning from his suspension, we will need a more cohesive midfield display, something which was missing during his suspension.
Anthony Gordon
The linkup play between Gordon and Trippier is going to be interesting. I said within my Newcastle predicted lineup that Gordon is one of those players who is rarely affected by squad rotation and as much as we can put that down to the Harvey Barnes injury, Gordon is in the starting eleven through merit.
Gordon has been one of our best players this season and long may this continue. His workrate is absolutely phenomenal and he is more than likely to come up against the Chelsea captain Reece James, who we know likes to bomb forward. With that being said, his work will be appreciated in both halves this game.
