Fans impressed by Newcastle star who “set the pace” on international duty
By Kian Long
The international media were seriously impressed by one Newcastle sensation who “set the pace” during his side’s unfortunate loss on international duty.
Despite the game finishing 1-0, there was one game which caught the eye of many on international duty. I am, of course, talking about the fixture between the two historic sides Brazil and Argentina, in a meeting where the host side and current world champions Argentina got the edge over the Brazilians.
From a Newcastle perspective, the game was very interesting too. Two of our midfielders were involved in the match, Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes – Both of which went through different fates in this match. Joeltinton was sent off in the match very controversially after a soft altercation which he didn’t start.

Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes impresses on international duty
But this article isn’t about Joelinton, I want to instead spread some light on Bruno Guimaraes who caught the eye of his country despite the loss.
As reported by Geordie Boot Boys, Bruno G was lauded after an impressive performance against Argentina. By international newspapers, he was given a 7/10 rating after his display as the main midfielder and for “setting the pace” against the world champions.
Bruno is good at making a big occasion seem small. This is exactly why we signed him and why he has become one of the first players on Eddie Howe’s team sheet. It showed just how much we missed him when he was unavailable for us against Bournemouth. Thankfully, he will return to Premier League action after the international break.
What do you make of Bruno Guimaraes’ season so far?
