Newcastle: Eddie Howe receives a HUGE Sven Botman injury boost
By Kian Long
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe will be over the moon, as there has been a massive Sven Botman injury boost in the last day or so…
With the dreaded international break putting a halt to our season, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what we have achieved so far this term. In our first season in the Champions League we are performing well and still within a chance of winning four trophies this season.
Admittedly, though, things have looked bleak in the last few weeks with Eddie Howe struggling to put together a full strength lineup due to the injury crisis. The fact of the matter is that we have almost a full starting eleven of players who are injured, which doesn’t help when it comes to squad rotation amid the busy fixture schedule.
Newcastle: Eddie Howe receives a HUGE Sven Botman injury boost
One factor which has been a real detriment to our season so far is the Sven Botman injury. The defender, who is utterly important to our system at the back, was last seen in action in our 8-0 hammering of Sheffield United where he was on the scoresheet but since has nursed a knee problem.
Thankfully for Newcastle fans and indeed Eddie Howe, there has been a positive Sven Botman injury update.
According to a report by The Athletic, Botman is nearing his return to training. This is after the club had encouraged the centre back to rest, which looks to have paid dividends as his return from injury timeline has been incredibly faster than expected.
While fans shouldn’t expect to see Botman close to match fitness anytime soon, we can take this as a real positive as Botman nears his return to training. Hopefully, Eddie Howe can start to introduce more of his first-team regulars again.
What do you make of this Sven Botman injury update?
