Newcastle vs Dortmund: Eddie Howe’s DILEMMA as 12 players ruled out

As Newcastle travel to face Dortmund in the fourth Champions League match, Eddie Howe is met with a dilemma, as he’s set to miss 12 players.
Facing Borussia Dortmund away from home is never an easy task. But when the pressure is piled on and you face an injury crisis, it becomes all the more difficult.
This is the problem Eddie Howe faces. While he’s keeping his team in good form, there is an injury crisis at St James Park which will affect his chances of picking up three points at the Signal Iduna Park. Given how the table is looking, anything less than three points could be costly to the Geordies’ progression to the knockout stages.
As reported by Shields Gazette, there will be 12 players ruled out for Newcastle on the road to Germany. The list was certainly manageable before the weekend, but against Arsenal, two players came off through injury – Jacob Murphy and Dan Burn. Two important players for Newcastle so far in their Champions League run.
In addition to those two injuries, Eddie Howe will also be without Sven Botman, Alexander Isak, Matt Targett, Harvey Barnes and Elliot Anderson – All of which have suffered significant injuries, so there’s not a chance they will return in time for the match tomorrow night.
It’s not just injuries which affect Newcastle. As we know, Sandro Tonali will also be unavailable on the night, as he serves his punishment for breaching betting rules during his time in Milan.
The injury dilemma is exacerbated by the fact that some players are missing from the Newcastle Champions League squad, so are unavailable to step in and play. Those players include Matt Ritchie, Emil Krafth, Mark Gillespie and Javier Manquillo.
