Newcastle lineup news – Anthony Gordon to start instead of Callum Wilson

As per the Daily Mail, Anthony Gordon is set to start as a striker for Newcastle tonight, which would afford some rest for Callum Wilson. It’s thought that Eddie Howe wants to rest the injury-prone striker Callum Wilson, in the hopes he remains fit for some important games including Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund coming up.

In my opinion, this is a wise move. Gordon is in good form and is versatile enough to play centrally, so it will be interesting to see this alters the team tactically, and could catch Man United off guard.

Newcastle lineup news – Eddie Howe drops hint on Emil Krafth

Following the positive Emil Krafth injury return, Eddie Howe has dropped a hint that he could play tonight against Man United. As per Geordie Boot Boys, Howe said that the full-back “looks really good” upon his return from injury.

Certainly, if he is to prove himself to Howe, his best chance is in cup competitions. After a sustained period out of the starting eleven, he could claw his way back in if he impresses on a routine basis. It will be interesting to see how he fares should he play tonight.
