As Eddie Howe prepares for his third Champions League match, here’s the Newcastle predicted lineup vs Borussia Dortmund.

Newcastle predicted lineup vs Dortmund

GK – Nick Pope: I think this selection speaks for itself. At the best of times, Nick Pope gets into the starting eleven under Eddie Howe. Particularly in the Champions League, there’s nobody better between the sticks for Newcastle.

RB – Kieran Trippier: At the weekend, Trippier was subbed off when the game was set. Therefore, if it wasn’t obvious enough that Eddie Howe has Trippier in mind for the home match against Dortmund.

CB – Fabian Schar: One of the stars in the last Champions League match, Fabian Schar is fit for this match after he played the full match at the weekend. Who knows? We could even see another Schar thunderbolt.

CB – Jamaal Lascelles: Although Botman is expected to return from injury in time, I cannot see him starting ahead of Lascelles if he’s only just returned. Lascelles has been in excellent form and proven why he’s the captain. Dropping him in a game this big would be unfair.

LB – Dan Burn: Dan Burn will be dreaming of another bullet header in the Champions League at St James Park, and so will the fans. Although, he’ll prioritise his defending as he’s more than likely to start against Dortmund.
