Newcastle transfer news – Eddie Howe receives an update on Viktor Gyokeres

Newcastle United have recently been linked with Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres. The striker who is wanted by Newcastle United is valued highly at his current club.

With that in mind, Newcastle have been handed an early blow in their race to sign Gyokeres from Sporting CP. The Portuguese club has said that unless they meet his release clause, he will remain a Sporting player. His release clause is £87.1m (€100m). This is according to Sport Witness.

Newcastle transfer news – Magpies scout Victor Boniface

Fear not, Geordies. For one player’s loss is another player’s loss. Indeed, if Newcastle are interested in signing a striker in the January transfer window, then Boniface is a better shout than Gyokeres.

According to The Sun, Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Victor Boniface of Bayer Leverkusen. The 22-year-old centre forward whose side is top of the Bundesliga table, is subject to a move away in January. He has scored seven goals and provided two assists in seven league games. Originally signed for £12m, the striker could be the next best thing at St James Park.

Newcastle transfer news – Sandro Tonali under investigation

Other clubs aside, Newcastle’s transfer business may be decided by the outcome of their player’s impending investigation. We revealed yesterday that Sandro Tonali was under investigation for potentially committing betting breaches. Newcastle said they side with their player and his family, but there’s no denying that losing him through a potential suspension would be a big blow.
