Newcastle United have had a fantastic return from the last international break. They won 5 out of 7 games, the other 2 being draws. A fantastic return after a difficult start to the season.

What is more impressive is Newcastle have played 2 matches in the Champions League. The toughest competition and what can be regarded as the “group of death”. A hard-fought 0-0 draw to AC Milan in which the black and white were behind for the majority of the match. A game we possibly should have lost with the amount of chances conceded.

The other game was an amazing 4-1 win at home against PSG. A team I thought we would take no points against. But here I stand, gobsmacked that we could take all 3 points under the lights of St James Park.

A couple of scrape wins came against teams like Brentford in the league and City in the EFL Cup. We breezed past Burnley and managed to get a point against a difficult West Ham side. Best of all, we smashed it out of the park against Sheffield United. No one would have thought before the game we were going to score 8. Not only scoring 8 but 8 different scorers too.

Can this form continue, though? The next 7 games consist of 2 Champions League games, 1 EFL Cup and 4 Premier League games. Both Champions League games are both against Dortmund. A team I think we take the most points from. If you asked for my prediction, a win at home and a draw away.

Compared to a month ago Newcastle’s chances of beating Manchester United have gone up. They have been very hit-and-miss in both the league and UCL. Especially if Onana is playing, he could have one of those games he has had so many of already. But then again so could we. If Nick Pope were to start we could see him concede silly goals like West Ham’s opener in our draw. Or we could see a silly red card like against Liverpool last season.

In the league, I think we take 7/12 points. Crystal Palace and Wolves are the first 2 league games back. I see us taking a win against Palace and a draw against Wolves. Wolves are a strong side wedged in between a UCL game and our EFL Cup fixture. A loss to Arsenal will follow. A strong side that is in phenomenal form, I doubt we will be able to keep up with their quality. Finishing off with our fixture against Bournemouth. A win I see us easily attaining. A shame since some of their players (I am looking at Philip Billing specifically) should be on better teams.

With another international break coming up, will this side be able to carry on this form? I am almost sure we can and cannot wait to see what this team can do.
