Newcastle United legend and former manager Alan Shearer believes that even though the Magpies had a ‘tough start’, they have ‘recovered well’ this season.

After the first four games of this season, it felt like it could be a long season for Newcastle United. They lost 3 of those 4 games and even YouTuber stars like Mark Goldbridge started speculating the future of Eddie Howe as the manager of Newcastle United. But, just like last season, Eddie Howe is turning this season around for the Magpies. After that defeat against Brighton at the AMEX Stadium, Newcastle are unbeaten in their last seven games. In this current unbeaten streak of the Magpies, they have beaten sides like Manchester City and PSG who are among the best teams in the world. Former Newcastle United manager and legend Alan Shearer is very pleased with the comeback from the Magpies this season. He told Chris Bevan of BBC Sport;

"“Newcastle also have got some ground to make up on the leading pack, but overall I am pretty pleased with the start they have made.”"

Shearer acknowledges that despite injuries to some of their key players, Eddie Howe’s men found a way to get results;

"“Since then, though, they have recovered well and got some great results in the Premier League despite having key players like Sven Botman, Joelinton and Callum Wilson out injured.”"

The all-time highest goalscorer in the Premier League also acknowledges the importance of the win against PSG in the Champions League to lift the mood of the club;

"“Nights like that lift the whole club and they are exactly what they worked so hard for last year.”"

Alan Shearer also pointed out that the most disappointing thing was seeing West Ham equalize so late to prevent Newcastle United from getting three points. However, he also thinks that the draw is a ‘fair result’.
