Newcastle player ratings vs West Ham: Top-class Trippier
RW: Miguel Almiron – 5/10
Miguel Almiron looked like a threat throughout the game. However, he couldn’t repeat his strike against Burnley even though he got the chance in the 28th minute of the game. Also, when he played on the left in the second half, he played decently. However, he lacked involvement in that game and you need that from your winger. That is why in the Newcastle player ratings vs West Ham, he would get an average score.
- SUB: Jacob Murphy – 4/10 (82nd minute) Jacob Murphy came on for Miguel Almiron in the 82nd minute and put a shift in. He didn’t have enough time to do much and it wasn’t a performance worth noting. So, he would get an average score at best.
LW: Elliot Anderson – 5/10
Playing Elliot Anderson as a winger was a choice that Eddie Howe had to make because of the absence of Anthony Gordon. And, Newcastle United did miss Gordon in this game. Until the second half, Anderson looked a bit subdued. He tried to have a decent game in the second half. But, as he was playing out of his position, you would have to give him the benefit of the doubt and also, an average score at best in the Newcastle player ratings vs West Ham.
- SUB: Matt Target – 4/10 (93rd minute) Eddie Howe brought in Matt Target to replace Elliot Anderson and he didn’t have time to show his skills. So, it felt like Howe should have made that sub a long time ago as Anderson was struggling in the wing.
CF: Alexander Isak – 7.5/10
If Alexander Isak had been able to put that pass from Dan Burn in the back of the net, he would have surely become the man of the match. He deserved his hat-trick in this game and he turned the game on its head in the second half by scoring two goals within a gap of five minutes. His speed was causing trouble in the West Ham backline. Overall, he had a very good outing at the London Stadium for Newcastle United.
- SUB: Callum Wilson – 4/10 (86th minute) Callum Wilson came in to replace Alexander Isak in the 86th minute and he was decent on the pitch for the time he was on. Although he couldn’t score, he was supporting Newcastle United defensively which was needed at that time. So, it was a smart substitution from the manager.
