Newcastle open talks with Sean Longstaff for a new deal until 2028

The man of the moment right now is Sean Longstaff, so much so that Eddie Howe plans to tie him to Newcastle until 2028 at least.
The mood is great at St James’ Park right now. After the 4-1 battering of PSG on home soil which capped off an impressive run from Eddie Howe’s men, all the players in the Newcastle camp are hopeful to continue this momentum.
Newcastle open talks with Sean Longstaff over contract extension
With that in mind, Eddie Howe wants to take advantage of the momentum in the squad by tying down one of their best players this season to a new deal. According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Newcastle have opened talks with Sean Longstaff over a new contract extension. The refreshed deal will keep him at the club until at least 2028.
To me, this is a no brainer. As I mentioned, Longstaff has been one of the club’s best players this season so keeping him happy is essential. As someone who lives and breathes the club, it would be a real statement of intent if he were to be tied down for the future.
Something that is often overlooked is that fact that Longstaff is only 25 years old. This new deal would keep him at the club into the prime stage of his career. It’s scary to think that Longstaff looks this mature yet he hasn’t reached his peak.
With Bruno Guimaraes rumoured to have signed a new deal, this would certainly be a boost for fans. It means that Eddie Howe has that midfield on lock-down for many seasons, particularly since Sandro Tonali only just signed for the club.
Do you think offering Sean Longstaff a new deal is good for the club?
