Newcastle United are looking to bolster their striking force in the January window as they are in search of a new striker along with players in other areas.

Eddie Howe is constantly looking to add quality players to his Newcastle squad. One of the main areas he is looking to bolster is his attacking. Yes, the Tyneside already has Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson. However, Wilson is 31 and Isak is 23. Thus, the Magpies are looking to add a younger striker to their ranks as they want to build for the future. Eddie Howe already has full backing from the Newcastle owners. Therefore, he is looking to add more players to build his squad depth.

Howe has already shown what he can do as a manager if he gets proper backing. Taking the Mapies to the Champions League is already a huge achievement for the former Bournemouth manager. Now, he is looking to build a team that will challenge for the big trophies. He took the Magpies to the final of the Carabao Cup last year and finished fourth in the Premier League. However, the ultimate dream of any Newcastle fan would be to challenge for the league.

So, if the Tyneside has to challenge for trophies, then they need squad depth and they can only get that by adding quality players. If you look at the squad depth for Manchester City, Liverpool or Arsenal, it is staggering. That is why Newcastle will be looking to add another striker to their squad, a preferably younger one, according to Football Insider, even though they already have the services of Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson.

One of the names that are being thrown around Newcastle is Brighton’s Evan Ferguson who scored a hattrick against the Magpies this year. Thus, fans will be looking forward to seeing which player Eddie Howe signs as a striker this January.
