Newcastle is set to miss Harvey Barnes for months after the injury he suffered over the weekend. Eddie Howe is backing Barnes to come back stronger.

The injury woes of Newcastle continue as Harvey Barnes is the latest name included in that list. Newcastle boss revealed that the injury Barnes suffered over the weekend was ‘unusual’. Eddie Howe and his men thumped Sheffield United at the Bramall Lane 8-0. However, Barnes, who started the game over the weekend, had to come off after 12 minutes as he felt uncomfortable while running. After that, he had scans and now, he is reportedly out for several months. However, it is still unknown whether he would need surgery for this injury.

Harvey Barnes signed for Newcastle from Leicester City for a fee of £35m. This big money move for the former Foxes ace created a lot of pressure on him already. As he would be sidelined for months now, the pressure on him to make his price worth will pile on. Yet, Harvey Barnes can feel a bit reassured over his career with the Magpies as Eddie Howe is reportedly backing him to come back stronger than ever. Eddie Howe said to reporters;

"“But whatever the injury is, however long it takes him to get back, we will support him. We know he is a top quality player and he has still got a massive part to play.”"

Eddie Howe signed Harvey Barnes to be one of his main players. However, now, the Newcastle boss has to look up to the other members of his team to step in the absence of Barnes. He can already rely on Anthony Gordon who was brilliant against the Blades. After Man City at the Carabao Cup, the Magpies will be hosting PSG at St. James’ Park in perhaps one of the most anticipated games of the season for the Magpies.

Do you think this injury to Harvey Barnes will be a big miss for Eddie Howe and Newcastle?
