A 58-year-old Newcastle United fan, Eddie McKay, is hospitalized after getting stabbed allegedly by a group of 7 or 8 people. Right now, he is in a stable condition.

Newcastle United will be playing their first-ever UEFA Champions League game after 20 years at San Siro in Milan. However, a piece of shocking news broke on Monday that a Newcastle fan has been allegedly stabbed at Milan by a group of seven or eight people. The name of that person is Eddie McKay. He came to Milan to watch Newcastle play their first game of the European competition along with his son and a friend. However, around midnight, he was taken to the nearest hospital after being allegedly stabbed by a group of people. The police are investigating the matter. In the meantime, the official statement from Newcastle has been delivered. The official statement said,

"“We are deeply concerned by reports that a supporter was seriously assaulted in Milan on Monday evening and we are liaising with local authorities to understand the circumstances. Our thoughts are with the supporter and their family and we hope for a full and speedy recovery.”"

More reports came out…

The paramedics gave the initial treatment to McKay before he was taken to the nearest city hospital in Milan. According to a report on Sky Sports, Eddie McKay had stab wounds as he was trying to run away and fell on the ground. His family would fly to Italy to be on the side of Eddie McKay. His daughter, Rachel said to Sky Sports News;

"“He’s gutted he’s missing the match but just wants every other Newcastle fan out here to be aware and be safe. He has just had two knee replacements so he fell when he was being chased and that is when he was attacked. My brother is okay but is in shock after seeing that happen to our dad. I’m flying out there later. We haven’t slept all night.”"

Police are still looking to find out the main reason for the attack. It could be either football or any other reason. However, hats off to the Newcastle United supporter because he is feeling sad about not getting a chance to attend the match even after being hospitalized. It shows how important this game is for each of the Magpies. Newcastle United will now have an added motivation to go on the field and do it for Eddie McKay.
