RW: Jacob Murphy – 6/10

Was certainly up for the occasion and he helped Newcastle in the first half by making a superb goal-line block. In the end, the boyhood Newcastle fan was subbed off in the 63rd minute and it was understandable. Howe wanted to throw in more attacking firepower, so he brought on the in-form Callum Wilson.

ST: Alexander Isak – 4/10

He definitely wasn’t great tonight. In fairness, he was deprived of service but whenever he had the chance to lead the counter-attack, he failed. In my opinion, it was his worst performance in a Newcastle shirt.

  • SUB: Harvey Barnes – N/A. Didn’t have enough time to make an impact.

LW: Anthony Gordon – 5/10

Didn’t play too well, in all honesty. He wasted a few opportunities and looked reserved in general. Understandably, Gordon was subbed off in the 63rd minute. Watching his lack of effort by that point, you can see his hard work from the start of this season has taken its toll.

  • SUB: Miguel Almiron – 6/10. It isn’t what he was brought on to do, but he made an essential goal-blocking clearance in the 75th minute. This alone warranted his cameo.
