Eddie Howe and Newcastle have their attention on the Champions League only. Returning to the prestigious European competition for the first time in years, the Magpies are there to impress. Make no mistake about it, progression in the Champions League is a priority this season.
Admittedly, Newcastle are in the toughest group. It’s not going to be easy, but neither was qualifying for the competition in the first place. Eddie Howe has the right group of players, some of which could even be labelled as world-class.
One of those players who you could easily label as world-class is the phenomenal Swedish striker Alexander Isak. The talisman who seems to have everything in his locker has set the world alight since he signed at St James Park. In many ways, he was one of the key figureheads in last season’s amazing season.
But when you impress in a league as big as the Premier League, you’re bound to receive interest worldwide. This is something the Newcastle fans were prepared for, after finishing in the top four.
Barcelona are interested in signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle
Indeed, according to Fichajes, Barcelona are interested in signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. It’s thought that the Catalan club eye Isak as the future successor for Robert Lewandowski, who only has a couple seasons left in him at best.
At 23 years old, it makes sense that European super clubs are eying the signing of Isak. He’s a versatile striker and is capable of competing at the top level. Given some fine performances in the Champions League and more clubs will be knocking on the door.
From Newcastle’s perspective, they obviously won’t want to lose Isak. Therefore, it could be worth considering an early contract extension offer.
