Newcastle United wanted to sign Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea. But they failed. However, the payer is expected to leave in January as per Fabrizio Romano.

Newcastle United want to sign a defender and there is no doubt about it. Eddie Howe admires Trevoh Chalobah of Chelsea and he is out of favour with the new manager Mauricio Pochettino.  There was a chance for Chalobah to leave Chelsea on the deadline day for Nottingham Forest. But he rejected that move according to Fabrizio Romano because Chalobah only wanted to join Bayern this summer. However, as that move didn’t happen, he wanted to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place. But, no matter how hard Chalobah tries to fight for his place, his manager at Chelsea doesn’t see him as a fit for the club. That is why Chalobah is now open ‘to leave’ in January according to the Italian journalist.

Newcastle United may be interested in signing Trevoh Chalobah in January

Eddie Howe is an admirer of Trevoh Chalobah and that is why he wanted to sign him this summer. He was seen as a replacement for Fabian Schar. Chalobah is very good on the ball and that would have been a key aspect that Eddie Howe liked about the central defender. However, he decided not to pursue the move because of the transfer budget and Chelsea were demanding a high transfer fee that Newcastle United were unable to pay. Also, the reluctance of the player to leave Chelsea prompted Newcastle to move away from the deal.

Things have changed for Chalobah as he can see his manager doesn’t rate him highly. So, no matter how hard he tries to impress him, all his efforts will be futile. Thus, according to Fabrizio Romano, the player has finally decided to leave Chelsea in January as his sources are telling him.
