Newcastle United has continued to find goals, game after game, from a player they least expected to just a short few months ago.
Forward Callum Wilson, and his counterpart Alexander Isak, have been one step ahead of opposing defenses as the duo has combined for 25 goals on the season.
On Sunday, April 30, Newcastle United went toe-to-toe with Southampton, ultimately downing them in a 3-1 victory.
A key contributor in that contest was Wilson, who came into the contest as a substitute after spending the first half on the bench. Once he was introduced into the game, he thrived.
He was able to find two goals in the second half of the game, with another finding its way into the back of the net before unfortunately being called offsides.
However, his two goals were illustrious.
His first came as a clean tap-in from just in front of the face of the goal, while his second was a strike that was unsavable by the opposing goalkeeper.
That performance marked two back-to-back games with two goals as he knocked in two the game before against Everton in the 4-1 win.
Through the month of April, he has been on a warpath in the Premier League.
Wilson scored finished the month scoring eight goals, which saw him surpass former Newcastle player Alan Shearer’s record for the most Premier League goals scored by a Newcastle player in a calendar month, which sat at seven.
The 30-year-old’s total now sits at 15 goals in 26 appearances on the season for the Magpies in league play. His 15 goals on the season sit him sixth in the league in goals on the season, just behind the likes of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and others.
Alongside his stellar goalscoring abilities, he’s also dished off four assists and helped contribute to facilitating the offense.

The Magpies sit at an overall record of 18-11-4 and gear up to take on No. 1 ranked Arsenal this coming weekend. Wilson will need to be an impact, and it has yet to be determined whether or not he will start or provide a spark off the bench.
