Newcastle United looks to build winning streak against Everton
By Cade Cracas
Newcastle United is coming off of a 6-1 victory over the Tottenham Spurs this past weekend, solidifying themselves in third place in the Premier League table.
Now, the Magpies have a quick turnaround as they take on Everton this Thursday, April 26, on the road at Goodison Park. With the team finding incredible success in the spring, a win seems evident for Newcastle.
While Newcastle is coming off of a blowout win, Everton has struggled in recent weeks. Their last contest came up against Crystal Palace, where they tied 0-0, and before that, they fell 3-1 to Fulham and 2-0 to Manchester United.
Throughout their last six games, they’ve scored just five goals but have given up eight. While that is not necessarily bad, they’ll need to turn their season around as soon as possible to avoid regulation to the EFL Championship league.
Coming into Thursday’s contest, Everton sits in 18th place in the Premier League table with an overall record of 6-10-16.
In comparison, the Magpies have been on a roll winning the last six of seven games they’ve competed in. In two of their most recent games, against West Ham and Tottenham, the Magpies have knocked in 5+ goals, showcasing dominance on the offensive end.
They also have recently taken down Manchester United and Brentford, two teams towards the top of the league table.
With the Magpies producing high-level play, and Everton struggling, the Blues will need to be ready to play on Thursday.
Throughout the last six outings these two teams have placed against one another, Everton has won just one, tied one and lost four. However, on the road at Goodison Park Newcastle United has struggled to succeed in their last 10 contests winning one, drawing three and losing six.
On Thursday, the two teams will go toe-to-toe to either extend or end streaks that both teams have set in place.
