Newcastle United looks for five game winning streak against Brentford
By Cade Cracas
Newcastle United currently sits on a four-game win streak as they gear up to take Brentford in a table-altering contest.
The Magpies are currently climbing as they sit with 53 points in third place. Brentford sits in 9th with 43 points; a win would help push them up the table.
On Wednesday, April 5, Newcastle took on West Ham United and dominated them, 5-1. That win marked their fourth win in a row, including one over red-hot Manchester United, helping keep the team in third place with an overall record of 14-11-3.
Recently, the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson have emerged as stars on the pitch.
Saint-Maximin has looked like his normal speedy and creative self, while Wilson has shined at the top of the attacking plays. Last game against West Ham, he was able to find two momentum-shifting goals.
On the other side of things, Brentford is coming off a close 1-0 loss to Man United. That loss came early in the contest, with Red Devil forward Marcus Rashford finding the sole goal. Before that loss, Brentford had tied two and won one over the course of the previous three games.
One of the big differentials between the two squads is goal differential, as Brentford has allowed 18 more goals than Newcastle has on the season while scoring the same amount of goals.
With both Newcastle and Brentford playing consistently towards the top of the table, either squad will have to show up and show out to pull off the win.
These two squads have gone toe-to-toe already once this season, where Newcastle took home the win. That contest, which occurred on October 8, 2022, was a 5-1 win for the Magpies.
Through three contests in Premier League history between one another, Brentford have yet to find a win. Through the last seven meetings, the Magpies have won six and drawn one. The Bees last win occurred in a 1-0 battle that occurred in 1948.
These two sides will go up against one another at 3 pm on Saturday, April 8, at Gtetch Community Stadium.
