Newcastle United set to look at Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
By Cade Cracas
In recent weeks, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been attempting to negotiate his release clause with Napoli after having a standout season with the club.
Through 22 total Series A league games, Kvaratskhelia has knocked in 11 goals while passing off nine assists showcasing that he can dominate against high competition. With Newcastle United looking to bolster its attacking core, a winger like Kvaratskhelia is one you can’t overlook.
According to recent reports, Kvaratskhelia will insist on a release clause being installed into any new contract amid ongoing talks with Napoli. This comes after his stellar play has shone through this season.
Recognizing his worth, he hopes to avoid a release cause that could hinder his ability to join another squad.
Currently, his transfer market value sits at roughly £114 million, which makes him one of the most valuable Series A players. His value shot up over £100 million in one year alone after joining Napoli.
This spike makes sense considering he went from scoring nine goals in 69 games with Rubin Kazan to scoring 13 goals through 29 games with Napoli, while also recording nine assists. He also was able to find two goals in the Champions League this season through seven games.
Reportedly, Napoli wants to set his release clause at over £140 million to lock Kvaratskhelia down long-term after bringing him in for just £8.6 million initially.
The 22-year-old just recently agreed to a deal with Napoli in the summer, but due to his play, he has been linked with high-end clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester City. Although Newcastle United is not one of those “high-end clubs”, they are still monitoring the potential that he will be available.
The club, whos rumored to have massive spending abilities this summer, could have easily enough money to go after a young star like Kvaratskhelia.
Do you want to see Newcastle United bolster its attacking core in Kvaratskhelia, or should they look for other pieces around the globe?
