Schar remains out as Newcastle United gears up for Nottingham Forest

Newcastle United has had its fair share of injuries, mishaps and inactive this season, and even after getting a victory in last weekend’s contest against Wolves, they have not been able to catch a break.
Newcastle’s central defender, Fabian Schar has been ruled out of this weekend’s clash against Nottingham Forest. This comes as a blow to the Magpies, as they look to finish the season strong and secure their spot atop the Premier League.
The Swiss international has been an integral part of the Newcastle squad and has played a significant role in numerous victories when healthy.
The 31-year-old is well-known for his excellent defensive skills, agility and ability to score vital goals when called upon.
His defensive skills were particularly on display earlier this season when he made a crucial block against Southampton to help Newcastle side secure a point.
Schar has scored a total of 10 goals for Newcastle since he joined the club, including a spectacular long-range strike against Burnley in February 2019.
While this season, he has not been utilized in the scoring column, he has still been reliable defensively as a regular starter for Newcastle United this season. He’s featured in 23 of the team’s 25 Premier League matches. His absence this weekend is certainly a setback for the team with nine games remaining in the season.
Schar’s injury may seem like a blow to Newcastle’s chances, but the team still has several capable defenders to call upon. Jamaal Lascelles and Dan Burn have all featured prominently in the team’s defense this season and will likely step up to fill the void left by Schar’s absence.
Outside of Schar, manager Eddie Howe did say there were some other knocks to the injury sheet.
“Similar to last week. We had a couple of knocks. Intense game last week, really intense physically. We’ve been managing and nursing a few players, We’ll wait and see who’s fit,” said Howe. “Nothing major, hopefully. It’s just a case of a few players have missed training this week, but we hope to have the majority of players available.”
Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, will be eager to take advantage of Schar’s absence as they try to stay out of a potential regulation battle toward the bottom of the league table.
With both teams looking to finish the season strong, this game promises to be an exciting encounter. Although Schar’s absence is a significant blow to Newcastle, the Magpies have a strong squad and will be determined to secure a positive result. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest will be looking to turn their season around and secure all three points.
