Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak called up to Sweden squad
By Cade Cracas
Alexander Isak has become such a robust, versatile and agile player this season for Newcastle United when healthy, so it came as no shock when reports were released that the Sweden squad has brought him up.
After dominating against Wolves in a Premier League contest this past weekend, Isak was recognized by the Sweden national team for his one goal and seven one-on-one wins for Newcastle United.
On Wednesday, March 15, the Sweden squad released their roster for upcoming national cups with Isak sitting contently on the list.
During the season, Isak has contributed four goals in eight competitions, showcasing that when healthy and given the opportunity to shine, he can do so.
The only knock against him has been his inability to stay healthy, as the last time he went up to play with his national team, he came back to Newcastle United with an injury.
That injury ended up hindering his contributions to the squad and put a wrench into manager Eddie Howe’s plans during the season.
The main hope for Isak is that his play with the national team gives him the opportunity to thrive and grow as a player, while also staying healthy on the field.
With Newcastle United looking to make a run down the stretch of the 2022-2023 season, it will be important to see him in perfect and healthy form.
