After struggling for weeks to get deals over the line, Newcastle United fans were certainly starting to get a bit frustrated with the club’s transfer approach this summer. Now though, there seems to be some hope that the Magpies could be closing in on a big signing.

Newcastle United have been linked with a long list of wingers in recent times, with one of the most high profile names among them being that of Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Despite being one of the most highly rated players at the club for years now, he has never managed to fulfil his potential and nail down a spot in the starting XI. And rumours have suggested that he has asked to leave on loan in search of first-team football.

As reported by The Sun, Newcastle are now strong favourites to complete a loan deal for Hudson-Odoi within days. Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Leicester City and Southampton have also been linked with him.

The arrival of Hudson-Odoi on loan, if it does indeed end up happening, would be a major boost for Newcastle United.

One has to remember, this is a player who had almost managed to establish himself as a starter for Chelsea at 18 years of age, but suffered a serious injury at the wrong time.

He has never looked quite as explosive since that injury but at the same time, one also has to admit that he has never quite gotten a solid run of starts at Stamford Bridge either.

He could potentially get that at Newcastle United and if he can live up to his potential, Newcastle United would have one of the best wingers in all of England on their hands.

Now, it remains to be seen if they are able to sign Hudson-Odoi on loan from Chelsea or not.
