Newcastle United have held talks over €30 million striker
Newcastle United have been linked with a striker all summer, but have not able to get a deal over the line yet. The Magpies have been rumoured with a long list of names but none of those rumours have led anywhere substantial till now. One of the latest names on that quickly growing list is that of Goncalo Ramos.
Ramos currently plays for Portuguese giants, Benfica. He is 21 years of age and has already impressed with his performances, especially this season, following the departure of Darwin Nunez.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists in 3 appearances till now, having played 196 minutes of football in total. Those are exceptional numbers to say the very least.
And as reported by 90min, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have both held talks over a possible deal. Clubs like Crystal Palace, Everton, Leeds United, West Ham United and Wolves are all believed to be monitoring the situation as well.
Newcastle United have held talks over striker
It is safe to say that someone like Ramos could prove to be a solid addition for Newcastle United, especially since he is just 21 years of age and would be expected to get better moving forward.
He appears to have taken his game to the next level ever since the departure of Nunez. At the same time though, the previous departure also means that Benfica are not under any real pressure to let Ramos go this summer.
Ramos has also been a standout at the youth levels for Portugal. And one of his best assets is the fact that he can play in several positions, whether it be as the focal point of attack, as a second striker or even as an attacking midfielder if the situation calls for it.
Currently Newcastle United have Callum Wilson and Chris Wood competing for the starting spot up top.
