Newcastle United had made a solid start to this summer transfer window, by signing Matt Targett, Sven Botman and Nick Pope on permanent deals. Since then though, things appear to have gotten much more difficult for them and the Magpies have been going through a tough time recently to bring their targets to St James’ Park.

Now, the club should not be desperate to make additions to their squad. One has to remember that this side was one of the most in form in all of Europe in the second half of last season, and they have started this campaign with a win as well, beating a resolute Nottingham Forest side 2-0 in their opening game of the Premier League season.

But at the same time, if Newcastle United are to challenge for a top 7 spot this season, they might very well need to add to their ranks this summer.

And as reported by i, Newcastle United have been in talks with Chelsea over which of their players will be available when the Blues complete their transfer business this summer in terms of incomings. The Magpies have an interest in the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Conor Gallagher.

Newcastle United have held talks with Chelsea over players

Newcastle United have been linked with a number of Chelsea players in recent times. Other than Hudson-Odoi and Gallagher, the names of Timo Werner, who has joined RB Leipzig, Armando Broja and Christian Pulisic have been brought up as well.

Thus, it remains to be seen if Newcastle United are ultimately able to sign anyone from Chelsea this summer or not.

The Blues certainly have quite a few players who could be on the move before the summer transfer window slams shut. It will be interesting to see how late Newcastle United are willing to leave things though.
