Newcastle United are believed to be on the lookout for a winger this summer. Some of the players that they have been linked with recently are Anthony Gordon of Everton, Harvey Barnes of Leicester City, Jack Harrison of Leeds United, Callum Hudson-Odoi of Chelsea and several others. Moussa Diaby was believed to have been their top target of the summer but the transfer fee that would be required to sign him appears to have led the Magpies to reconsider.

Newcastle United have particularly been linked with several players from Chelsea recently. Other than Hudson-Odoi, the names of Timo Werner and Armando Broja have also done the rounds of the rumour mill. And now, it looks like another name has been added to that quickly growing list.

As tweeted out by Ekrem Konur, Newcastle United are monitoring the situation of Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic.

Pulisic has failed to establish himself in the Chelsea starting XI under the management of Thomas Tuchel and as a result, a move away from Stamford Bridge might not be out of the realms of possibility.

Newcastle United linked with move for Pulisic

When Pulisic had arrived at Chelsea, he was viewed by many as the successor to Eden Hazard. And in his first season with the club, he did show the potential to fill those boots as well, looking almost unplayable at times in the second half of the 2019/20 campaign.

It is safe to say that things have not gone his way over the past couple of seasons though. Firstly, he has struggled with both form and fitness. And secondly, Chelsea no longer play with a conventional left-winger, which is Pulisic’s best position on the pitch.

Thus, it should not come as a huge surprise that he has struggled. But the same time, there is no question about his talent and Newcastle United should keep an eye on the situation.
