Newcastle United make enquiry about Chelsea midfielder
It seems like Newcastle United are intent on signing someone from Chelsea this summer. They have been linked with a series of the club’s players in recent times. They were believed to hold an interest in Timo Werner, but he has returned to RB Leipzig. On the other hand, players like Callum Hudson-Odoi, Armando Broja and Christian Pulisic have also been linked with a potential move to St James’ Park.
Till now, all those rumours have led to nowhere though and it remains to be seen if Newcastle United are able to sign someone from Chelsea this summer, before the transfer window slams shut.
The latest name that seems to be on Newcastle United’s radar is Conor Gallagher. The Magpies might need to strengthen in the middle of the park, especially with Jonjo Shelvey ruled out for months as he recovers from an injury suffered in pre-season.
As reported by 90min, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and West Ham United have enquired about the availability of Gallagher. Chelsea do not appear to have any plans to let him leave this summer though.
Newcastle United linked with move for Chelsea midfielder
Gallagher has one of the most highly-rated players at Chelsea for a long time and after his super successful loan spell at Crystal Palace last season, he seems to be in Thomas Tuchel’s plans right now.
Gallagher was on the bench in their opening Premier League game of the season against Everton and came on as a substitute. Now, it remains to be seen if he will be getting consistent minutes for the Blues this season or not.
Someone like Gallagher could be a fantastic addition to this Newcastle United team but it might prove to be too difficult to sign him this summer. Still, there are some weeks left in the window and let’s see if there is some change in the situation or not.
