Newcastle United set to make offer for €30 million striker

It is no secret that Newcastle United are searching for a striker this summer. The club had appeared to be closing in on Hugo Ekitike, but the French youngster ended up joining PSG instead. The Magpies were then linked with players like Alexander Isak, Timo Werner and Armando Broja as well, but those links have led nowhere till now.

Now though, it looks like they have another player in their sights to fill in up top and that is none other than Benfica striker, Goncalo Ramos.

Ramos has enjoyed an incredible start to the 2022/23 season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists in 2 appearances till now.

And as tweeted out by Pedro Sepulveda, Newcastle United are interested in Ramos and are set to come forward with a proposal in the coming days. It looks like Benfica could be open to letting him go for a transfer fee over €30 million.

Benfica have already seen Darwin Nunez leave the club and as a result, it will be interesting to see if they are ready to part ways with another one of their forwards as well.

Ramos could be a very good signing for Newcastle United. He is just 21 years of age and will only be expected to get better moving forward. His versatility could also prove to be a huge strength for the club. Not only can the Portuguese youngster play as the centre-forward, but he also has the ability to play as a second striker as well as an attacking midfielder if the situation calls for it.

Thus, it is not hard to see why Newcastle United seem to have Ramos on their radar. Now, it remains to be seen if they are able to sign him from Benfica this summer.
