Manchester United trying to sign Newcastle United target
Newcastle United started their Premier League campaign with a brilliant 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest. On the other hand, Manchester United stumbled at the very first step of the season, by losing 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford. How times have changed!
Newcastle United have been linked with a number of players over the course of the last few months, even though they have completed a move for only three of them till now in the form of Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman. And now, it looks like Manchester United are trying to sign one of the midfielders, who appears to have been on the Magpies’ radar as well.
The player in question is Adrien Rabiot. The Frenchman is currently in the final year of his contract with Juventus and rumours suggest that the Italian giants are ready to let him go.
As reported by The Athletic, Manchester United are working on a deal to recruit Rabiot. He has emerged as a leading option to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s squad.
Manchester United appear to be interested in Newcastle United-linked midfielder
Newcastle United had been heavily linked with a move for Rabiot a few months back but in recent times, there have not been many rumours surrounding the potential move.
Thus, it is unclear whether there is still any interest in the midfielder on the part of Newcastle United or not. Rabiot’s current deal with Juventus runs out next summer.
It must be said that Rabiot has been quite disappointing for Juventus. During his time at PSG, he was expected to develop into one of the best in his position. That has not happened over the years. In fact, it is a bit of a surprise that Manchester United are interested in the midfielder, who in the eyes of many, has underdelivered for years now.
