Newcastle United have been chasing a number of wingers in recent weeks. It was believed that Bayer Leverkusen star, Moussa Diaby, was their number one target in the position but a huge transfer fee was required to sign him. Other than the Frenchman, they have been linked with several other wingers, but have not been able to sign anybody yet.

One of the names that has been doing the rounds of the rumour mill for a while is Jack Harrison of Leeds United.

While Leeds United had a poor season, and managed to escape relegation by the skin of their teeth, Harrison had an impressive individual campaign. And now, it looks like Newcastle United have taken a major step in their chase to sign him.

As reported by Foot Mercato, Newcastle United have submitted a new offer for Harrison which amounts to around €40 million. But Leeds United are believed to be hoping for a transfer fee around €47 million.

Newcastle United have submitted huge offer for Leeds United’s Harrison

Harrison could prove to be a very good signing for this team. Even in a Leeds United side that struggled, he managed to put up impressive numbers last season.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Harrison scored 10 goals and provided 2 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.

Thus, it is safe to say that the player has already proven himself in the top flight of English football. On top of that, he is just 25 years of age as well and as a result, has plenty of time on his hands to get even better moving forward.

It remains to be seen if Newcastle United are able to get a deal done for him this summer. Leeds United have already seen the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha leave this summer though, and are expected to be keen to avoid any more high profile exits. Thus, it is understandable why they want a huge transfer fee for Harrison.
