James Maddison hands Newcastle United massive blow
Newcastle United have been linked with a long list of players in recent times without being able to get deals done for any of them. The latest on that quickly growing list is the name of James Maddison. Rumours have suggested that the Magpies launched a bid for the attacking midfielder as well of around £40 million but it was turned down by Leicester City, who are looking for a higher figure to part ways with their star man.
Maddison has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in England for a long time but a move has never transpired till now. Could that change this summer and could a move to St James’ Park be on the cards?
Only time shall tell but first of all, it looks like Newcastle United will have to raise their offer for Maddison. And even if they do that, they will have to convince him to join the club, and that could prove to be a stumbling block as well.
It looks like Maddison might not be convinced about a move to Newcastle United. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, transfer insider Dean Jones said:
"“I don’t think Maddison is convinced about Newcastle from what I’ve heard.”"
Newcastle United have been linked with a move to Maddison but it could be very complicated
Maddison is coming off of a tremendous individual campaign, even though the Foxes struggled as a team last time around.
In fact, it is very interesting that there does not seem to be a lot of interest in his signature this summer. Thus, there could be a window of opportunity for the Magpies if they are able to move quickly and take it.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Maddison scored 18 goals and provided 12 assists in 53 appearances for Leicester City last season across all competitions.
Maddison’s current deal with Leicester City is believed to run until the summer of 2024.
