Newcastle United need to add to their options up top this summer, having already strengthened adequately at the back. The club have been linked with a number of players like Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak, Moussa Diaby, Thorgan Hazard, Jack Harrison, Harvey Barnes, Armando Broja, Callum Hudson-Odoi and several others in recent months, without any of those moves transpiring till now.

If the Magpies are to push for an European qualification spot this season though, they will need to be better going forward.

Now, it looks like they have a Paris Saint-Germain player in their sights in the form of Julian Draxler, who moved to the French giants in 2017 as one of the most highly-rated youngsters in all of Europe but has not managed to deliver on that potential till now.

As tweeted out by Ekrem Konur, Newcastle United are planning to make a £13 million offer to Paris Saint-Germain for Draxler.

Newcastle United planning to make transfer offer for PSG star

Draxler had joined PSG in early 2017 and while he has never quite managed to nail down a spot in the starting XI, that does not mean that he has been completely out of the picture.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Draxler has made 198 appearances for PSG, scoring 26 goals and providing 41 assists in the process of doing so.

It is pretty clear that Newcastle United could do with another option on the wings and someone like Draxler could prove to be a very good addition to Eddie Howe’s side, for the long run and in the short term as well.

Of course, it all depends on whether he can make the adjustment to the Premier League. But at the same time, he has incredible top level experience at both club and international level, even winning a World Cup with Germany. And even though it feels like he has been around for ever, he is still just 28 years of age and should be in the middle of his prime.
