Newcastle United’s need for a striker this summer is not unknown. The club will need a consistent goalscorer if they are to push on and compete for the European qualification spots. They did see both Callum Wilson and Chris Wood struggle to find the back of the net consistently last season though.

The club were believed to be very interested in a move for Hugo Ekitike and a move had appeared to be close at one point of time as well but ultimately, it did not end up leading anywhere, and the player ended up joining PSG instead.

The Magpies have also been linked with talented forwards like Alexander Isak of Real Sociedad and Armando Broja of Chelsea, but nothing has materialised till now.  Amidst all this, it looks like they have their eyes on another striker but he seems to be of interest to Manchester United as well.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United and Newcastle United are both well informed about RB Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko. Nothing seems to be advanced at this point of time though.

Both Newcastle United and Manchester United are interested in striker

Newcastle United are a club in need of a striker right now but at the same time, one has to wonder whether someone like Sesko would be the right solution for them.

Sesko is just 19 years of age. He has already made quite the impression though. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 13 goals and provided 8 assists in 40 appearances for RB Salzburg.

Sesko is quite the physical presence up top as well. And RB Salzburg are no strangers to discovering brilliant strikers in recent years. The name of a certain Erling Haaland comes to mind immediately.

It remains to be seen if Newcastle United will end up making a move for Sesko. This is an interesting rumour for sure though.
