Newcastle United might not have been able to get deals over the line in recent weeks but they continue to be linked with one player after the other. It is pretty clear that the Magpies need to strengthen up top this summer but their rumoured interest in players like Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak, Moussa Diaby and several others has lead nowhere till now.

As a result, their search for players in forward areas continues and the most recent name to be linked with the Magpies is that of Leicester City star, Harvey Barnes. It will not be an easy task to get him though.

As reported by The Sun, Newcastle United want Barnes but Leicester City are demanding a £50 million transfer fee for the 24-year-old.

Barnes has been one of Leicester City’s best players for a long time now and even though he had certain difficult spells last season, his stats at the end of the campaign were still impressive. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 11 goals and provided 14 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.

Newcastle United linked with massive move for Leicester City star

It goes without saying that that is a massive transfer fee that Leicester City are believed to be looking for to part ways with Barnes. Now, it remains to be seen if Newcastle United will decide to go after him.

Signing someone like Barnes could prove to be a superb move on the part of the Magpies. Not only does he have a lot of experience in the Premier League and proven in the top flight, but the Leicester City star is just 24 years of age as well, and would be expected to get even better with time.

At the same time though, the club have been linked with several other interesting names as well and a number of them could be good additions to Eddie Howe’s set up.
