Most of the rumours surrounding Newcastle United right now are about incomings. While the club did make a very good start to the summer transfer window by bringing in Nick Pope from Burnley, Sven Botman from Lille and turning Matt Targett’s loan from Aston Villa into a permanent deal, they have had a tough time getting deals over the line recently.

Their failed pursuit of Hugo Ekitike is well documented, while Moussa Diaby was believed to be their top target this summer on the wings, but the Magpies are believed to have had to take a step back in that race as well.

Now though, a winger from Newcastle United is being linked with a move away instead and it is none other than Allan Saint-Maximin. A lot of rumours surrounded his future earlier in the summer and now, they seem to be back.

As reported by The Northern Echo, Newcastle United are bracing themselves for formal inquiries about Saint-Maximin as Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are both believed to be interested in the player. A number of reports emanating from London have suggested that both Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte are pondering a move for the mercurial French winger.

On top of his game, Saint-Maximin is a fantastic player. But we have not managed to see him perform on a consistent basis recently, especially following the arrival of Eddie Howe as manager.

But there is very little doubt about his talent and all the suggestions have been that Howe is keen to keep him at the club despite interest from other clubs.

Let’s see how things unfold in the long running Saint-Maximin saga over the coming weeks and months.

It must be said though that if a club end up making a transfer bid in the range of £40 million to £50 million for the 25-year-old, Newcastle United might end up having to think about it.
