Newcastle United have been frustrated when it comes to making signings in forward areas this season. While the problems that they have faced in signing a striker are well documented, the situation has not been much better when it comes to getting in a new winger through the St James’ Park door.

Moussa Diaby was believed to be their top target when it comes to the wings but that interest has led nowhere till now. Rumours have suggested that the Magpies have decided to take a step back due to the huge transfer fee that it would take to sign the French international star from Bayer Leverkusen.

On the other hand, they have also been linked with players like Jack Harrison of Leeds United, Callum Hudson-Odoi of Chelsea, Ismaila Sarr of Watford, amongst many others.

And as reported by GIVEMESPORT, Arsenal’s Nicolas Pepe is a name being mentioned as a player attainable in this summer transfer window.

Pepe had enjoyed a very promising 2020/21 campaign but he struggled badly for playing time last season.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 3 goals and provided 6 assists in 23 appearances. He played just 943 minutes of football in total though. That is solid in terms of minutes per goal contribution.

But at this point of time, Pepe does not seem to be one of the key players for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal and as a result, one cannot count out the possibility of him leaving the club.

Someone like Pepe could be a solid signing for Newcastle United. While he might not have played a lot of football for Arsenal last season, his numbers are pretty good for when he has been on the pitch. And he showed a lot of promise in the previous campaign. Also, at 27 years of age, Pepe is entering his prime as a footballer.
