Most of the recent rumours surrounding Newcastle United are about new strikers or wingers, as both are positions that the Magpies are believed to be looking to strengthen in this summer. Unfortunately though, they have had much luck in that department till now, with rumoured interest in players like Hugo Ekitike, Moussa Diaby, Alexander Isak and a few more, not bearing any positive results till now.

Another player that Newcastle United have been linked with in recent times is Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton.

Calvert-Lewin was linked with a move away from Everton for the entirety of the previous season. There does not seem to be a lot of buzz surrounding his potential exit at the moment though, which might be a direct result of the underwhelming 2021/22 campaign that he had.

But as reported by 90min, Everton’s Calvert-Lewin remains the primary target of Newcastle United.

Massive Calvert-Lewin to Newcastle United transfer update

It looks like Calvert-Lewin is still very much in the sights of Newcastle United, despite the fact that he was not particularly impressive last season and failed to reach the bar that he had set for himself with an exceptional 2020/21 campaign.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Calvert-Lewin scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists in 17 Premier League appearances last season.

Thus, it will be very interesting to see how Calvert-Lewin does moving forward. It must be pointed out though that he had his injury problem last season and also, Everton struggled for any kind of form for the entirety of the season.

Calvert-Lewin did prove himself to be a man for the big occasion though by scoring the winner against Crystal Palace, which kept Everton up in the Premier League.

This summer, Richarlison has already left Everton, in order to join Tottenham Hotspur. And now, it remains to be seen if Calvert-Lewin departs the Merseyside club as well.
