Newcastle United have always been excepted to make a splash this summer and Moussa Diaby is someone who has been linked with a move to the club for a while now, after enjoying a tremendous campaign with Bayer Leverkusen, which saw him being one of the best performers in the Bundesliga.

Some rumours have even suggested that Diaby was Newcastle United’s top target of the ongoing summer transfer window but the Magpies appear to have taken a step back due to the massive transfer fee that they might need to shell out in order to sign the French international star from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

While someone like Diaby could have been a spectacular signing for the Magpies, it does not look like a move is on the table any longer.

As reported by The Shields Gazette, when asked whether he had made a decision regarding his future, Diaby told RP Online:

"“I’ve made my decision and will play for Bayer Leverkusen again next season.”"

While Newcastle United will need to strengthen on the wings this summer, it looks like there hopes of signing Diaby are over now, for the time being at least and they will have to move their eyes elsewhere.

The Magpies have been linked with quite a few other players in the position as well in recent times but have not been able to agree a deal for anyone till now. Fans will be hoping that that will be changing very soon and Newcastle United will be strengthening their squad squad going forward, like they have done with their defence this summer.

Newcastle United have been linked with players like Thorgan Hazard, Jack Harrison, Callum Hudson-Odoi and quite a few others in recent times in their search for a winger. Let’s see who they ultimately end up signing.
