Newcastle United have done a wonderful when it comes to strengthening their defence this summer. They have signed Sven Botman and Matt Targett permanently. At the same time, they have improved between the posts by signing Nick Pope from Burnley. On the other hand though, they have had a tough time in their attempts to make reinforcements up top.

A move to sign Hugo Ekitike from Stade Reims had looked close but fell through and he has instead ended up at PSG. On the other hand, the club are rumoured to have had to drop their interest in Moussa Diaby of Bayer Leverkusen and Alexander Isak of Real Sociedad, due to high transfer fees and wage demands.

The Magpies will need to make additions going forward though if they are to improve upon their 11th place finish from last season and one player that they have been linked with is Jack Harrison of Leeds United.

As reported by The Northern Echo, Leeds United are adamant that they will not let Harrison leave the club for a transfer fee less than £35 million.

Newcastle United will need to pay a big fee if they are to sign Harrison

Harrison is coming off of a pretty good individual campaign with Leeds United. That is even more impressive when you consider the fact that the Peacocks managed to escape relegation last season by the skin of their teeth.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Harrison scored 10 goals and provided 2 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions for Leeds United last season.

As a result, someone like Harrison has the potential to be a great signing but at the same time, it would be very difficult to convince Leeds United to let the winger go after they have already seen Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha depart this summer for Manchester City and Barcelona respectively.
