Newcastle United are interested in another exciting striker

Newcastle United’s search for a striker this summer seems to be dragging on much longer than anybody could have anticipated. The club seemed to be close to signing Hugo Ekitike several weeks back and the French youngster could have proven to be an excellent addition to Eddie Howe’s side. But it has failed to materialise till now and there are serious doubts over it now.

As a result, the Magpies appear to be keeping their eyes on other strikers as well and have been linked with some big names in recent weeks.

It looks like another name has been added to that quickly growing list now. As reported by The Athletic (via HITC), Newcastle United are interested in signing Alexander Isak. It looks like he continues to be mentioned in transfer discussions at St James’ Park.

It will be difficult to bring someone like Isak to Newcastle United though as it is believed that Real Sociedad would look for a transfer fee north of €70 million in order to let him go.

Isak has been one of the most highly rated young strikers in Europe for a long time now even though he is still just 22 years of age.

While Isak has had a couple of very good seasons, his overall record as a striker is not exactly spectacular till now. But he has all the attributes needed to be one of the best strikers in all of Europe in the near future and as a result, almost all of the big sides in the Premier League have been linked with him at one point or another.

Thus, it is not a surprise that Real Sociedad would look for a huge transfer fee for Isak, despite the fact that he is coming off of a disappointing 2021/22 season, where he struggled to find the back of the net.
