Newcastle United have already had a promising summer transfer window but the club do need to freshen up their options up front. Going forward, the Magpies were not great last season, even though they had a very good second half of the season and ended up finishing 11th in the Premier League table, even though it had looked like they were headed for relegation for a good portion of the campaign.

If they are improve upon that position though, they will need to be better going forward and as a result, it is no surprise that they have been linked with a number of players in those areas over the past few weeks and months.

One such player is Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos. The versatile Portuguese youth international is capable of playing as a centre forward, a second striker and even as an attacking midfielder if the situation calls for it.

But as reported by Maisfutebol, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Ramos and have started talks for the Benfica forward.

Wolves have begun talks for Newcastle United transfer target

Wolves have made quite a reputation for themselves for signing players from Portugal and could they add the name of Ramos to that ever-expanding list.

Ramos was not the most prolific player last season but he did have a very promising campaign. Also, he is just 21 years of age and one would expect him to get much better as he gets more experience under his belt.

Thus, if Newcastle United have any intention of signing him, they might need to make their move quick.

Of course, the Magpies have been linked with several other players in recent times as well and it will be very interesting to see who they end up making a move for over the coming weeks and months.
