Newcastle United target has handed in transfer request

Newcastle United have been linked with a long list of players in recent weeks and months, and the club have done very well to cross off a quite a few names already. The Magpies have signed Matt Targett from Aston Villa, Sven Botman from Lille and Nick Pope from Burnley. But it looks like the club could make further additions to their squad in recent months.

One area that the Magpies could still be looking to improve in this summer is their midfield and one player who they have been linked with heavily is Lyon’s Lucas Paqueta, who is also rumoured to be drawing the interest of Arsenal.

Paqueta has been in fantastic form for Lyon and also, his history with Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes means that it is not hard to see why the links exist. The Brazilian international can be a brilliant signing for the Magpies.

And as reported by L’Equipe (via Newcastle World), Paqueta has asked to leave Lyon this summer.

Could Newcastle United make a move for Paqueta this summer?

Paqueta would be a very good signing for Newcastle United but at the same time, it would be very tough to sign him. Firstly, it is believed that Arsenal are also chasing the midfielder’s signature. On the other hand, other hand, earlier rumours had suggest that Lyon would look for a transfer fee around €70 million to part ways with Paqueta.

It goes without saying that Newcastle United would need to shatter their transfer record in that case in order to sign Paqueta.

It remains to be seen if they would be willing to do that or not, although there might be a chance to sign Paqueta this summer if the club does decide to push for him. Let’s see how things turn out in the saga.
